We are serious about helping people to get saved and growing in the Lord
By “saved” we mean being in a right relationship with God based on your accepting Jesus as your savior, by faith (see Jn. 3:16).
By “growing in the Lord” we mean helping you to understand and live by God’s word, the Bible (see Lk. 9:23). The Bible has principles for every area of your life.
We put a great deal of emphasis on our Sunday Worship and Weekly Study
Our worship services take place on Sunday at 9:00 a.m. (to about 10:30 a.m.). We are somewhat traditional in our worship style; however, we have drums, praise dancers, a praise team, and the Pastor is known for adding a song or two … smile.
We aim to make worship a place of learning about God’s word, feeling God’s presence, and being encouraged and supported in living an obedient life. Our Pastor is the primary preacher, and he is known for being a teaching “hooper.”
We are not very focused on what you wear. We have an array of outfits on Sunday – from suits and dresses to blue jeans and polo shirts. Having you with us is more, important than what you wear.
As for “Bible Study & Sunday School,” we meet weekly for encouragement, prayer, study, and special projects (e.g., fellowship, service, and evangelism). The 60 to 90-minute sessions take place on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. and Sunday at 10:45 a.m.
We currently study the Urban Ministries Sunday School material. We believe that if you study, fellowship, and serve with us, you and our church family will be richly blessed.
We are serious about community involvement
We deliberately volunteer our time and give financial donations to organizations in the Avondale community and vicinity. For example, we donate to the community council, Rockdale Academy, South Avondale Elementary, Taft Elementary, the NAACP, National Action Network, CityLink, City Gospel Mission, Interfaith Hospitality Network, prisons, nursing homes, and more.
We also give money to Historically Black Colleges and Universities, mission projects in Africa and Haiti, and disaster relief efforts in the course of the year.
We are much more than a worship center. We take seriously the idea of being the salt of the Earth and the light of the world (see Mt. 5:13-16).
